For adapted indoor and outdoor measurements, direct solar radiation can be included or excluded by means of a function. An individual WBGT alarm limit value can also be defined, which is immediately indicated acoustically when exceeded.

In addition, the TC100 is capable of measuring almost all quantities relevant to climate comfort.

Air temperature and humidity, thermal radiation, wet-bulb and dew point temperature, as well as atmospheric pressure: all these quantities can be called up in real time, displayed as a retained, minimum, maximum or average value on the backlit display and stored directly on the TC100 with a capacity of 99 measured values.

For long-term measurements, the TC100 can also be mounted on a tripod. In addition, the measuring device has a mini-USB port and a 9 V socket, so that continuous operation via mains power is possible as an alternative to the use of batteries. Also, for mobile power, an external battery can be connected to the TC100's Mini-USB port if necessary.

Measurement according to WBGT index standard

People who work in facilities or environments with high energy emission or thermal radiation are at higher risk of heat stress.

To protect the health of these heat-adapted workers, exposure and rest times adapted to the degree of load are prescribed, among other things.

The intensity of heat stress is calculated from several climatic factors. The standardized international name for this cumulative climate measurement is the WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) index.

This index, originally developed by the US Army for its training camps, is now also defined in DIN EN 27243 and is used, among other things, for the development of guidelines on work breaks and restrictions at thermally charged workplaces.

In addition to the WBGT, the TC100 can also determine the heat index, also called Humidex, which indicates the joint influence of humidity, temperature and thermal radiation on the human body.

As increasing heat decreases physical capacity, the WBGT index and heat index are increasingly used as decision aids for high-performance athletes or at sporting events.
