The Oreus vest is the result of a 5-year development project to create what we believe to be the best mid-weight synthetic products currently available. Limited by synthetic fills on the market, we set out to develop our own products, weaving fibers together through a heat-reflective weaving technology. Now patent-pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, Aetherm™ Precision Insulation is warmer than any other of equivalent weight, as well as being more breathable and easier to pack.

The Oreus has already been thoroughly tested with prototypes that have been used intensively everywhere from Karakoram to Patagonia to the Alps, and has received rave reviews from our team of athletes, many of whom wear these products instead of lightweight down due to their warmth, functionality and increased durability in difficult conditions.

Fundamentally, the Oreus vest is one of the most versatile garments you can own, suitable for everything from super-alpine climbs in the high mountains to ski touring in the Alps, hiking in Scotland or rock climbing on high crags. It can be worn as an outer layer, as a super-warm mid-layer or on top of it all. Warmth, quick-drying performance, and reduced weight and size are equally beneficial for almost any activity in the mountains.

The vest is an extremely useful layer on its own and can be combined with the Oreus jacket to provide an impressively warm, durable, and flexible system in truly severe conditions.
