The Oreus vest is the result of a 5-year development project to create what we believe to be the best mid-weight synthetic products currently available. Limited by synthetic fills on the market, we set out to develop our own products, weaving fibers together through a heat-reflective weaving technology. Now patent-pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, Aetherm™ Precision Insulation is warmer than anything of equivalent weight, while being more breathable and easier to pack.

The Oreus has already been extensively tested with prototypes being used intensively everywhere from the Karakoram to Patagonia to the Alps, and has received rave reviews from our team of athletes, many of whom wear these products in place of lightweight down due to their warmth, functionality and increased durability in tough conditions.

Fundamentally, the Oreus Vest is one of the most versatile garments you can own, suitable for everything from super-alpine climbs in the high mountains to ski touring in the Alps, hiking in Scotland or rock climbing on high crags. It can be worn as an outer layer, as a super-warm mid-layer or on top of it all. Warmth, quick-drying performance, and low pack size and weight are equally beneficial for almost any activity in the mountains.
