The Citadel Mitt has been developed in collaboration with our team of climbers and alpinists, for whom it is one of the first pieces of kit on big, cold routes. Used around the world on first ascents above 7000m and on some of the most difficult modern winter alpine lines, they are essential for maintaining warmth and dexterity when belaying, summit pushing or following easier terrain. They are also highly recommended by expedition companies for those attempting peaks from 5 to 7000m, particularly in the Himalayas, Karakoram and South America.

A two-part system comprises an outer and inner glove. The outer glove has 3 layers of Primaloft© Gold insulation [170 g/m2] over the back of the hand and Primaloft© Gold grip [135 g/m2] over the palm for maximum warmth while maintaining the ability to grip an axe and other basic functions. The Primaloft© Gold fill is the best available for this role, with exceptional insulation that continues to perform even when wet and resists compression better than down. The Drilite© Loft 20D shell is highly water-resistant and quick-drying, while the goatskin and polyamide palm provides grip and protection from ropes and other abrasions.

The inner glove shares the same Drilite© Loft 20D fabric, but used in conjunction with the EXOLITE softshell fabric and a leather insert on the palm. It has a fur lining for exceptional warmth and next-to-skin comfort when not wearing a liner glove. The single-finger design provides increased dexterity without sacrificing as much warmth as a glove.

The inner and outer gloves can be worn together or separately, and on some tough routes, many of our team members will pull the outer over a climbing glove between pitches when they're balancing absolute warmth with the requirements of crucial pitches.
