The Atomic Backland 89 SL W is a superlight, all-around touring ski for women looking for agility on the climbs and endless possibilities on the descents. As a result of a scientific life-cycle assessment, Atomic has created a ski with a lower-impact design to reduce material-based CO2 equivalent emissions by 30% (compared to the 2021 Backland 85) without sacrificing an ounce of performance.
Its construction uses more wood, less fiberglass and resin, and waste-reducing sidewalls for a lighter, stronger profile that thrives on any terrain. The all-terrain profile changes the thickness curve, torsional stiffness, and flex pattern to create a highly versatile ski shape. An ultralight caruba and poplar wood core combined with a stabilizing carbon structure adds powerful downhill performance.
The wider 89mm waist and exclusive beveled HRZN 3D tip offer more float in deep snow. For the best touring setup, pair it with an Atomic PreFit skin.
